Wheeling Heritage Partnership Grant Application is Now Open Through Jan. 31
WHEELING, W.Va. – Oct. 6, 2026 – Wheeling Heritage is accepting applications for its Partnership Grant Program through Oct. 31, 2026. The nonprofit organization offers grants of up to $1,000 to support projects that align with its mission of revitalizing Wheeling through historic preservation, community development and the arts.
Partnership Grant applications are reviewed quarterly by an ad hoc committee that evaluates each proposal to ensure projects align with the goals and scope of the program.
Wheeling Heritage offers five Partnership Grant categories:
• Education & Interpretation Grant: Supports projects that promote the heritage area, interpret its historic significance and provide long-term community benefits.
• Small Business Development Grant: Supports organizations and small businesses with projects that contribute to Wheeling’s economic vitality.
• Artist Grant: Supports projects such as supplies, recordings, studio time, exhibits, performances and attendance at workshops or seminars.
• Recreation Grant: Supports projects and programs that enhance recreation within the heritage area, with priority given to projects along the trail system.
• Fairs & Festivals Grant: Supports events within the heritage area that promote Wheeling’s culture and history, from community-based celebrations to large-scale events.
Applicants must provide information about a matching share, either through monetary contributions or in-kind services. Individuals, community groups, local institutions, public entities and private enterprises are eligible to apply. Nonprofit status is not required, but applicants must demonstrate the capacity to responsibly manage and account for grant funds.

Recent recipients include the Writers Association of Northern Appalachia for its annual conference; Ohio County Schools for My Wheeling: Building Independence Through Community Exploration; Mindi Yarborough for Chroma Sonic: Rites of Improvisation; Youth Services System for its annual Celebrate Youth Festival; The Seeing Hand Association for Wheeling Roots: Heritage, Gardening & Community Education at Edelman Garden; Ritchietown Renaissance Inc. for Celebrate South Wheeling; Midge’s Kitchen and Spore Print Press for The Meadow Supper; and The Urban Collective for new public-facing signage.
