Wheeling Heritage Partnership Grant Program Now Accepting Applications Through July 31

WHEELING, W.Va. – July 1, 2026 – Wheeling Heritage is now accepting applications for its Partnership Grant Program, with funding available for projects that strengthen the community through historic preservation, community development, the arts, education, recreation, and small business development. Applications will be accepted July 1 through July 31.

The Partnership Grant Program supports innovative, community-driven projects that align with Wheeling Heritage’s mission of serving as a catalyst for the revitalization of Wheeling. Eligible projects must take place within the Wheeling National Heritage Area, which encompasses the city limits of Wheeling.

“Wheeling is strengthened by the people and organizations who invest their time and talents into improving our community,” said Scott Schenerlein, executive director of Wheeling Heritage. “Through our Partnership Grant Program, we’re proud to help bring creative ideas to life while supporting projects that celebrate our history, strengthen our neighborhoods, and contribute to Wheeling’s continued revitalization.”

Wheeling Heritage offers funding in five grant categories:

  • Education & Interpretation

  • Small Business Development

  • Artist

  • Recreation

  • Fairs & Festivals

Grants may fund up to 75% of eligible direct project costs, with applicants providing the remaining match through cash or eligible in-kind services.

Applications are reviewed by an ad hoc committee to ensure they meet grant guidelines and align with Wheeling Heritage’s mission. Preference is given to projects that interpret one or more of Wheeling’s Themes of History and Development while creating meaningful community impact.

Individuals, nonprofit organizations, businesses, schools, and community groups with projects that benefit the Wheeling Heritage Area are encouraged to apply.
