We are powered by the people who have the desire to implement improvement and revitalization throughout Wheeling. Organized through Wheeling Heritage and the City of Wheeling, we also collaborate with other local organizations and non-profits, working towards the goal of making Wheeling a better, more beautiful place to live.

Projects range from litter pick-up and creating the Market Plaza Pocket Park, to supporting and spear-heading local events like FidoFest and Show of Hands.

Regardless of your level of experience in volunteering, if you want to make a positive impact in Wheeling, this is the place for you.

Beautify Wheeling is dedicated to keeping our city clean and inviting. This initiative organizes four scheduled community clean-up days per year while also collaborating with community organizations to support their efforts. Volunteers can also join The Litter Legends, a casual text group for impromptu cleanups. Whether you’re picking up litter for a couple of hours or leading a community effort, your help makes a visible impact on Wheeling’s beauty and sustainability.

ReEnergizing Wheeling focuses on preserving and revitalizing homes within the city, with a special emphasis on historically significant properties and homeowners in need. This committee connects volunteers with skills in carpentry, painting, and home repair to small-scale projects that make a big difference. In partnership with organizations like Friends of Wheeling, we aim to identify residents who could benefit from restoration efforts and community support.

Community Involvement

Committee Head: Riley Carpenter

rcarpenter@wheelingheritage.org | Phone: (304) 830-0586

The Community Involvement committee plays a key role in supporting Wheeling Heritage’s events and programs throughout the year. From planning and organizing major events like Show of Hands and Handmade Holiday to assisting with workshops, festivals like Fido Fest, and gallery openings, this committee brings people together to celebrate Wheeling’s culture, history, and local businesses. Whether you want to help behind the scenes or take a leadership role, this is a great way to engage with the community.
