Patti Kota appointed to the Wheeling Heritage Board
WHEELING, W.Va. – April 21, 2023 – Wheeling Heritage, a local non-profit organization that works as a catalyst for the revitalization of Wheeling, is pleased to announce the appointment of Patti Kota to their Board of Directors. Patti brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team, previously serving on the boards of the YWCA, King’s Daughter’s Child Care Center, and Habitat for Humanity.
“We are excited to appoint a talented and involved new member to our board. I personally look forward to Patti’s input on our organization and on Wheeling’s revitalization as a whole,” said Walker Holloway, Wheeling Heritage Board President.
Patti was born, raised, and educated here in Wheeling. After attending West Virginia Northern Community College, Patti went on to pursue her Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Wheeling Jesuit University and then her Masters in Community Health Education from West Virginia University. In 2004, she opened her children’s consignment shop, Bullfrogs and Butterflies, in Elm Grove. The shop is now owned and operated by her daughter, Sarah Lloyd. In addition to her business, Patti worked as the Director of the Family Violence Prevention Program, Assistant Director at the Challenger Learning Center at WJU, and the Center for Educational Technologies at WJU. Currently, Patti is “semi-retired,” still working a part-time office job. She has also worked with many volunteer organizations in the area.
“I am enthusiastic about preserving and promoting the rich history and cultural heritage of Wheeling,” said Kota. “I believe serving on the board of Wheeling Heritage will allow me to make a meaningful contribution to this important mission.”
As a long-time resident of Wheeling, Patti has lived in Wheeling all but 8 years of her life. Patti currently resides in Wheeling with her husband Bob where she enjoys spending time with her 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
