Main Street to Mountains: A Wheeling Portrait is a juried exhibition celebrating Wheeling through the work of artists. This open call invites artists to share their vision of Wheeling and the Appalachian region.

Selected works from both the plein air event and open call will be exhibited at the Artisan Center Gallery as part of the America 250 celebration.

Submission Details

Artists may submit up to 3 pieces
Work must be submitted through the application form below
All submissions will be juried based on:
– Artistic quality
– Creativity
– Interpretation of the theme
Application Fee: $10

Awards

Pieces from the open call will be juried by artist Robert Sako.

2nd Place – $250

Theme

Artwork should reflect the spirit, identity, and environment of Wheeling, including:

Landscapes & river views
Architecture & cityscapes
People & community
Industrial or historical heritage
Contemporary or personal interpretations of place

Artwork Requirements

Must be original work created by the artist
Must be ready to display
Work is not AI-generated or AI-assisted
Hanging method: wire only (no sawtooth hangers)
Size must be between 5” x 7” and 24” x 36”
Sculptures must include any special display instructions

Artwork Delivery

Accepted works must be delivered to the gallery between June 22–26. Detailed drop-off instructions will be provided upon acceptance.
