Wheeling Heritage: Weelunk “Live Here” Resource Guide Launch Set for February 19
WHEELING, W.Va. – February 6, 2025 – Wheeling Heritage invites local businesses, organizations, and community members to the launch of the Weelunk: Live Here resource guide on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Wheeling Artisan Center, 1400 Main Street. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the event is free and open to the public.
“Growth and education go hand in hand. We all want to see the City of Wheeling and Ohio County thrive. We are asking everyone to be an ambassador, and we feel it is our job to provide the tools to help you do that work,” said Scott Schenerlein, executive director at Wheeling Heritage.
Originally published in the spring of 2021, Live Here Guide has undergone a year-long revision to further highlight Wheeling’s unique assets and answer the question, “Why Wheeling?” This guide serves as a valuable resource for those looking to explore opportunities in Wheeling. Whether new to the area or longtime residents, it covers key aspects of the community, including neighborhoods, culture, housing, schools, and more. Businesses and organizations can also use Live Here Guide to attract potential employees and showcase the benefits of living in Wheeling.
“The Live Here Guide is more than a resource—it’s an invitation to explore Wheeling, whether you’re new to the city, rediscovering its charm, or just visiting,” said Riley Carpenter, editor-in-chief of Weelunk and director of programming at Wheeling Heritage. “With this relaunch, we’ve packed the digital version with clickable links to help users seamlessly navigate everything from local dining and historic sites to community resources and activities. It’s a practical, user-friendly tool designed to make connecting with Wheeling as easy as a click!”
With more than 20 vibrant neighborhoods, Wheeling offers a small-town feel with the amenities of a larger city. The region’s affordability, strong sense of community, and opportunities for involvement make it an attractive place to live and work. The updated guide aims to help individuals envision their future in Wheeling and provide a resource for those looking to make meaningful connections.
“Wheeling is not just a place on the map. It’s a small town filled with charm and big-city ambition, and the Live Here Guide showcases so many of the assets that make this community a special place to live,” said Stephanie Hockenberry, growth and retention manager for Ohio County, W.Va. “Wheeling Heritage, Growth & Retention for Ohio County, and various local partners are working together to create a legacy of progress that will echo for generations to come. We hope that people and businesses will choose to Live Here, use this valuable tool, and become part of the Wheeling, Ohio County story.”
