Hydie served as Executive Director of Wheeling Heritage from 2002 to 2011 and has long been an advocate for Wheeling and its revitalization efforts. This includes work focused on the Wheeling Artisan Center, the Wheeling Heritage Trail System, Heritage Port, Orrick, the Stone Center, and the Capitol Theatre.
