The Wheeling Artisan Shop is pleased to announce plans to create a pewter ornament for the 2026 holiday season featuring the historic Ohio Valley General Hospital tower. We are inviting artists of all levels to submit artwork for the design.
The OVGH letters stood as a symbol of care and compassion for many in the community, and with current plans to reinstall them at the future Robrecht Riverfront Park underway, we would like to take another opportunity to celebrate the hospital’s place in Wheeling’s history.
A selection of submitted designs will be chosen to be featured in a public poll where the community can vote on which design we will use for this year’s ornament. The artist with the most votes will also receive a prize of $300, with the runner-up receiving $100.
To be eligible to be selected, designs must be received by September 18 and must comply with the below formatting requirements:
• Design Theme: OVGH Tower
• Preferred Medium: Digital
• No year/date to be incorporated on the design
• No color necessary – ornament will be pewter
• No AI-generated content
• Ornament will be up to 4x4in dependent on the design
• Preferred file type: Illustrator or other vector file type (svg, eps, vector-based pdf, etc.)
Any submissions that are not vector files, such as traditionally drawn art, will be simplified and redrawn by the manufacturer to accommodate the production process.
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at info@wheelingheritage.org.
