What began with the rediscovery of a basement bowl brimming with colorful matchbooks soon unfolded into a remarkable journey through Wheeling’s past. Each matchbook—collected from restaurants, bars, banks, factories, local businesses, and travels—reveals a slice of life from the once-bustling Upper Ohio Valley.

These small, disposable objects serve as miniature memory books, preserving the names, places, and vibrant spirit of a community in motion. Paree’s collection brings forgotten histories back into the light, offering readers a visual and nostalgic tour through Wheeling’s cultural landscape.
