Wheeling Heritage Media Gallery Opens at Newly Renovated Wheeling Artisan Center
WHEELING, W.Va. – August 26, 2024 – Wheeling Heritage is excited to announce the opening of the Wheeling Heritage Media Gallery, located in the newly renovated Wheeling Artisan Center at 1400 Main Street. The gallery is now open to the public Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a fresh perspective on the stories that shape Wheeling’s community, culture, and history.
The photo gallery is dedicated to highlighting small business owners, documenting building redevelopment projects, and showcasing local cultural celebrations. It serves as a visual narrative of Wheeling’s ongoing revitalization, capturing moments that contribute to the city’s unique character and evolution.
The gallery’s multimedia content is created by local storytellers Dillon Richardson and Johnathon Porter, who specialize in photography, videography, and digital media at Wheeling Heritage. Their work focuses on both the past and present, connecting Wheeling’s rich history to its vibrant, growing community.
“Through this gallery, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Wheeling’s heritage while providing digital access to our stories for all to experience,” said Scott Schenerlein, executive director of Wheeling Heritage. “It’s about helping people feel more engaged and connected to the place they call home.”
The Wheeling Heritage Media Gallery is open during regular Artisan Center hours, and visitors are encouraged to explore the gallery and engage with the stories that make Wheeling unique. Select pieces are available for purchase, allowing guests to take a piece of Wheeling’s history home with them.
