Wheeling Heritage Honors Jeanne Finstein with the Friend of Heritage Award 2024
The Wheeling Heritage Board of Directors has announced Jeanne Finstein as the 2024 Friend of Heritage Award recipient. This prestigious accolade, conceived by the late Ronald Hobbs, honors individuals who have contributed to the identification and conservation of Wheeling’s heritage. Finstein will be recognized at an award ceremony slated for April 18, 2024.
This award, dating back to 2003, holds a prestigious legacy and Finstein will join the ranks of past honorees that include Beverly Fluty, Betty “Snookie” Woods Nutting, Linda Comins, Lisa Zukoff, Ross Felton, The Maxwell Partners, and U.S. District Court Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
Wheeling Heritage marks its 30th anniversary in 2024 by celebrating the Friend of Heritage Award, recognizing individuals dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the city’s historical legacy. “We thought this was the perfect opportunity to honor Jeanne for her good work, leadership, and involvement in the community over the years,” said Scott Schenerlein, executive director at Wheeling Heritage. “Jeanne has been an invaluable member of Wheeling’s heritage, which demonstrates the nature of this award.”
“Jeanne embodies the spirit and goals of our organization,” said Walker Holloway, Chairman of the Board. “Jeanne’s contributions to our city are too many to count; from her role as President of Friends of Wheeling to her advocacy for cemetery preservation and her service on the board of our foundation, she is a true champion for our heritage area.”
Wheeling Heritage cordially invites the public to honor Jeanne Finstein at the Friend of Heritage Award Breakfast on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Wheeling Artisan Center. Breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. Tickets for the event are $30 per ticket or $240 per table of eight. All proceeds will support the Wheeling Heritage Foundation.
