Join Volunteer Wheeling on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9- 11 a.m. as they clean up the area surrounding a historical marker dedicated to Gordon Battelle – a Methodist minister, educator, and delegate to the state’s first Constitutional Convention.
The historical marker is located in an empty lot near the corner of Main and 20th Streets in Downtown Wheeling across from Main Street Bank. Parking is available at the site. Tools needed include weeding tools, clippers and pruners, and, hand saws or small battery-powered “sawzall” if you can bring them to help cut thicker shrub branches. After cleaning up, we can talk about other ideas to make this spot more attractive.
